About Me
- About Me: When you know who you are, you know what to do.
Travel
- Places I love: Colorado. I love the Northwest, Appalachia, Real Chicago (the older part of the city), the Rockies, the U.P., Nairobi, Kenya
- Places I've been: Colorado. Really, though - I've been to 42 states. I love seeing America - especially the real places where the tourists don't go. I was just in Nairobi.
- Places to see before I die: Colorado. Maybe Jerusalem. Definitely Alaska. The summit of Longs Peak. The Smithsonian...
- Dream Vacation: Colorado. If not that, a primitive camping trip with my family, preferrably the North Woods in late summer/early fall.
More About Me
- Nicknames: Don't even think about it
- Nationality: Americano. Ethnicity? Mutt. Culture? Urban white guy.
- Religion: None - I follow Jesus
- Heroes: That would be Jesus. After Jesus would be Thomas A Kempis, Jonathan Edwards, Robert Coleman, John Piper, Martin Luther, my wife Sherry Ann Laughlin, Keith Green, and in many ways, my dad.
- Interests: I love doing ministry. My amazing wife Sherry, my two boys and my little girl. Let's see... anything with the outdoors, the guitar... I like Twinings Earl Grey tea. Fall mornings - or evenings. My very cool back yard.
- Expertise: I like to talk.
- Occupation: Youth Pastor
- Industry: Ummm... Can ministry in the church of Jesus be considered an industry? I mean, we MAKE disciples...
Food
- Favorite Cuisine: Mexican food. And meat. Any kind of meat.
- Favorite Dishes: Almost anything with meat. But a fresh cucumber/basil/tomato salad with vinaigrette straight from my garden is the BOMB.

- Favorite Albums: Come to the Quiet - JMT; My Mother's Hymn Book - Johnny Cash; Leftoverture - Kansas; The Ministry Years - Keith Green; Dancing at the Crossroads - The Crossing
- Favorite Genre: Hard to say. If you drew a circle around quality Christian worship music, traditional acoustic folk, and bluegrass, I suppose my favorite genre would be right in the middle. I also like '70's hard rock, some Christian alternative, some hip-hop, and old hymns.
- Favorite Songs: "It Is Well With My Soul"; "This Old Guitar" by John Denver; "Language of the Heart" by David Wilcox, Johnny Cash's version of "Never Grow Old"
- Favorite Lyrics: Keith Green: The world is sleeping in the dark that the church just can't fight 'cause it's asleep in the light How can we be so dead When we've been so well fed? Jesus rose from the grave And you - you can't even get out of bed!
- Songs for Roadtrips: John Denver for sure; the Crossing; old '70's rock
- Songs I hate: Anything on the top 40 for the last 25 years. Anything you could ever see on MTV. Anything from a boy band.
- Guilty Pleasure: Old Triumph songs
- Songs I repeat the most: Hmmmmm.. Switchfoot probably
- Band I wish I was in: Soggy Bottom Boys!
